Planning for Reduction Pathways
Path to Emission Reduction Targets
We have joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) at the end of 2021 and have committed to follow the 1.5 ° C temperature control path to set our science-based emission reduction targets. In May 2023, we have applied for setting the targets after a comprehensive accounting and analysis. In December 2023, we have formally approved the targets audit.
GHG Emission
Jinko Solar Science-Based Targets Commitment
Near-Term Targets
Commit to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emission 50.4% by 2032 from a 2022 base year, reduce Scope 3 GHG emission from Category 1 (purchased goods and services) 58.2% per MW* of solar related products produced within the same timeframe, and increase active annual source of renewable electricity to 100% by 2030.
GHG Emission
Jinko Solar Science-Based Targets Commitment
Long-Term Targets
Commit to reduce absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emission 90% by 2050 from a 2022 base year, and reduce Scope 3 GHG emission from Category 1 (purchased goods and services), Category 4 (upstream transportation and distribution) and Category 9 (downstream transportation and distribution) 97% per MW*of solar related products produced within the same timeframe.
GHG Emission
Jinko Solar Science-Based Targets Commitment
Overall Net-Zero Target
Commit to reach net-zero GHG emission across the value chain by 2050.
* Each unit of solar related products is measured by production volume in MW.
2050
Jinko Solar has developed short-, medium- and long-term emission reduction strategies to achieve net-zero emission by 2050. The Company starts from operations, supply chain and value chain to promote the management of GHG and energy, secures an increased proportion of renewable energy usage, collaborates with suppliers to reduce emission, explores product recycling strategies. In this way, we reduce emission for the entire industry chain.
Short-, Medium- and Long-Term Emission Reduction Strategies
Short Term (Present - 2025)
On the basis of rapid growth in business scale, we will promote the deployment of energy and carbon management system and the construction of "Zero-Carbon Factory", implement energy-saving renovations and renewable energy substitution, and increase the ratios of electrification and renewable electricity usage.
Enter into cooperation with pilot suppliers to reduce GHG emission, help suppliers set measurable GHG emission reduction targets, and co-design GHG emission reduction plans.
Short-, Medium- and Long-Term Emission Reduction Strategies
Medium Term (2026 - 2030)
Continuously improve manufacturing processes, promote full coverage of energy and carbon management system, and reach 100% renewable electricity usage to achieve a rapid decline in GHG emission.
Replicate and promote the supply chain GHG emission reduction plans, set up GHG emission reduction scorecards for all core suppliers, covering GHG emission data, GHG emission reduction targets, plans and progress, etc., and allocate higher procurement quotas to suppliers with better scores, to continuously promote GHG emission reduction among suppliers.
Short-, Medium- and Long-Term Emission Reduction Strategies
Long Term (2031 - 2050)
Continuously safeguard the renewable energy usage, actively apply the CCS and CCUS technologies, and participate in carbon trading to offset remaining emission and achieve carbon neutrality.
Deepen value chain cooperation to reduce GHG emission through more efforts in the areas of renewable electricity procurement, low-carbon raw materials research, lightweight packaging exploration, low-carbon transportation implementation, and product recycling and reuse.
